Three-time USA Olympic coach Terry Liskevych says that winning is important, but just as important is the process that works toward that goal. First comes the process, then comes the outcome.
He emphasizes that there will be no positive outcome if there's no accountability during the process. This means falling in love with the process, honoring it and investing 100% in the process itself. The process includes practices, drills, scrimmages, skill practice and team bonding. As a coach, it's important to instill in your players a love of the day-in-and-day-out process, and not just the euphoria felt when winning.
