Purpose: Learn the mechanisms of a strong armswing that can protect the lower back and shoulders.
How it works: The way a player generates force is through torque, or the ability to generate force through torso rotation, keeping a strong core and bringing the hips through. The other aspect of a strong armswing is keeping the hand high. To warm up torque, players partner up across the net. Begin with throwing the ball to one another with the attacking arm. Progress by hitting and snapping the ball, as if attacking.
Requirements: At least two players, one ball and a full court.
