Purpose: To train the defense to be ready for balls deflecting off blockers’ hands
How it works: Standing on boxes at each pin, coaches alternate hitting balls at the six players in defensive positions on the other side of the net. To get out of the drill, the players need eight successful transitions. The coaches should change the type of hits and include both balls that are hit off the blockers’ hands as well as tips. Next, incorporate a Bosu ball into the drill to create unpredictable ball deflections. The drill runs the same except the Bosu ball is held up by the pin hitter to represent the outside blocker. Again, eight successful transitions are needed to end the drill.
Requirements: 6 players, cart of balls, two wood boxes, two large Bosu balls, a full court and two coaches
